Course Overview

The programme starts with an induction to the course and training facilities to fully understand the training process and requirements. This course is delivered through Instructor-led training and Workshop based practical training with various assessments to ensure that the candidate achieves theoretical and practical competencies. Upon successful completion, the candidates will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to perform assembling, fitting, fabricating, maintaining mechanical piping systems, Installing, erecting fabricated spools at the site, working on different systems: high pressure, heating, and cooling, steam, ventilation, hydraulics, chemicals, and fuel, safely.

This course is for anyone interested in doing activities linked with the employment of an engineering operative.

The entry prerequisites are a good attitude toward learning, a solid motivation to study, and a reasonable level of language proficiency.

Candidates on successful completion of training are entitled to a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ attested by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation from NTI and a National Vocational Qualification Certificate (NVQ) from Excellence, Achievement and Learning (EAL), UK.

By the end of the module the candidate will be able to:

  • Selects types of pipes in different sizes, related materials and equipment specified for job.
  • Read and understand different types of pipe related drawings
  • Measure and calculate the cut off lengths
  • Cut pipes using grinding machine, hacksaw, cutting torch
  • Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending tools and hydraulic pipe bender
  • Fabricate pipe spools using variety of metals, non-metal and pipe fittings
  • Assemble and install pipe spools with piping components of specific pipe lines.
  • Secure pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
  • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks
  • Do maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Observe and comply with safety, project and company policies and procedures.
