Course Overview

This course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of confined space entry and safe working procedures.

OQ & Contractor staff who are required to use SCBA for gas testing or other operational activities, or in operational emergencies.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate issued by National Training Institute LLC (NTI)

  • Draeger ‘PA94 Plus’ SCBA backplate and harness, pressure reducer, demand valve, gauge, whistle, facemask and cylinder types
  • Pre-use tests, Donning & start-up tests, ‘Doffing’ SCBA, after-use disassembling, cleaning/maintaining SCBA for further use, and test records.
  • Rescue equipment, considerations, devising a rescue plan, and solo and team rescue techniques

At the end of the training the candidate will be able to:

  • Identify what is a confined space
  • Understand reasons for entering a confined space
  • Identify hazards associated with a confined space
  • Assess a hazardous confined space environment
  • Explain confined space atmospheric conditions
  • Prepare a confined space for entry and work
  • Select appropriate equipment for confined space entry and work
  • Define team roles and responsibilities for confined space entry and work
  • Select and apply appropriate emergency and rescue procedures
