At the end of the training the candidate will be able to:

  • Describe characteristics of toxic, flammable, oxygen deficient/enrich, nitrogen enrich atmospheres and how they are formed.
  • Occupational health effects of exposure to hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4) carbon dioxide(co2) lack/enrich oxygen (O2) and enrich nitrogen (N2)
  • Identify features of different types of gas testing equipment
  • Carryout inspection, pre-test and usage of gas testing equipment
  • Prepare, test and record gas testing results of toxic, flammable and oxygen deficient atmosphere.
  • Carryout practical gas testing in a simulated atmosphere including confined space
