Course Overview

Provide new staff with basic awareness knowledge and understanding of work within the Oil and Gas industry related to health, safety, environment and sustainable development issues.

Newly hired, seconded or transferred staff into Oil and Gas sector companies.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate issued by OPAL

  • Unit 1 : The Importance of Safety
  • Unit 2 : Hazard, Risk and Hierarchy of Controls
  • Unit 3 : Common Workplace Hazards and Specific Hazards associated with the Oil and Gas industry
  • Unit 4 : The Environment and Pollution
  • Unit 5 : Oman Legislation and Applicable Standards.

At the end of the training the candidate will be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of safety
  • Understand HSE cultures
  • Identify the hazards and risks associated with work activities
  • Describe emergency evacuation procedures
  • Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and the need to report them
  • What to do in case of emergency
  • Explain the importance of Lifesaving rules and consequences.
  • State the legal requirements associated with the workplace
