Course Overview

This course aims to enhance drivers’ knowledge and skills for driving safely, Emergency Vehicle Ambulance within the Sultanate of Oman.

All Oil and Gas sector personnel required to drive emergency vehicles in the performance of their work.

  • Valid Light Vehicle ROP License
  • Valid DDC Light Vehicle and Graded Road Permit
  • Minimum twenty-six years of age and maximum sixty years
  • Fitness to work certificate for candidates above 50, issued by an approved clinic
  • Five years of light vehicle driving experience
  • AHA Heartsaver, First Aid, CPR & AED certificate
  • HSE Passport

Successful candidates will receive a certificate issued by OPAL

At the end of the training the candidate will be able to:

  • Explain the principles of mind driving
  • Describe the handling characteristics of an ambulance
  • Explain how poor driver attitude and behaviour can lead to poor decision making
  • Demonstrate the five phases of the system of vehicle control and commentary driving
  • Explain the elements of emergency response driving including red mist
  • Explain how to use navigation and manage high-stress situations
