Upon successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

• Familiarize with IELTS© Test components and different question types particular to the IELTS© exam
• Develop test-taking strategies specifically for the IELTS test.
• Identify variety of different academic text types.
• Skim and scan on target material in all types of reading passages
• Identify elements of a text, where required, reproduce these elements in their own writing.
• Determine the 11 question types found in the reading and how to address them.
• Employ appropriate reading strategies and techniques.
• Respond to two tasks in writing, following instructions and making use of the time available.
• Write variety of different types of essay, e.g. persuasive, cause and effect etc.
• Interpret and describe statistical data using appropriate language and grammar.
• Demonstrate enhanced vocabulary and grammatical structure in writing and speaking.
• Determine what is required of candidates in all 3 parts of the speaking exam.
• Evaluate and self-correct speaking skill.
• Construct, convey and defend opinions using appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures.
• Demonstrate understanding of academic and professional discourse e.g., lectures.
• Identify the main ideas and distinguish relevant supporting details of formal or academic passage.
• Demonstrate enhanced listening skills for overall comprehension and details.
