Course Overview
The course aims to provide individuals with basic knowledge and understanding of fire protection, fire prevention and fire defence so that they may function effectively as Fire Wardens at any location.
Personnel who are designated to carry out the role of a fire warden.

Other Details
- Fire protection in buildings and on sites – its form and function
- Fire prevention – housekeeping, flammable materials storage and handling, work activities, common fire hazards, etc.
- Means of Escape - smoke and fire stop self-closing doors, wall, floor and ceiling surfaces, escape corridors and stairways, fire exit doors and signs, emergency lighting, assembly points, etc.
- Fire Defence – emergency response plans, heat/fire/smoke/gas detection systems, detector types, alarm panels, zone diagrams, fixed fire-fighting systems, portable firefighting equipment, etc.
- Fire Warden’s role – before a fire; during a fire; after a fire.
At the end of the training the candidate will be able to:
- Identify causes of fire
- Identify fire safety hazards, prevention, protection and precautions
- Identify and operate fire extinguishers correctly
- Describe the role, responsibilities and accountabilities of a Fire Warden
- Describe emergency procedures for efficiently evacuating personnel from a building wing or zone
